KIDS JUDO

At the Sport & Combat Martial Arts Academy, we teach our junior students the same syllabus as the adults, but our approach is different. Our approach is to help our students develop confidence, awareness and self discipline. We believe that all children need to develop a sense of self confidence and security. Realistically, parents cannot always be there and there will come a time when a child must stand alone and face the world.

Students learn to respect discipline and authority by following the Academys customs and formalities. Respect for others is a key ingredient in gaining self respect, which in turn creates confidence.

There are set requirements to be learnt for each belt level, and students must reach a minimum standard to be able to take the Grading Test for the next belt level. At certain stages of their training the juniors are awarded stripes for their belts. This shows their progress through the syllabus, rewarding their efforts and motivating them to continue training diligently.

The time between Grading Tests will vary from student to student. Children all learn at different rates, and their physical ability, concentration and retention will not be the same as each other. No student can take a Grading Test unless they are an enrolled member of the Academy, and their training has been regular and consistent. The Grading Fee must be paid before the Test.

For children to reach their full potential they must be disciplined, motivated and self confident. At the Academy, we encourage our students to develop self discipline by training hard for their next belt level. This, in turn, motivates them to achieve their next Grade, and teaches them to develop goal setting. This parallels what they are taught in school, and helps to lay the foundations for a productive life
